The story behind the artwork

This piece was created specifically for a state-wide miniature art competition. Fifty pieces were selected by juror to participate in the exhibition at Sierra Arts Gallery in Reno, Nevada. My piece was one of the ten pieces selected as a prize winner. The show will be up until May 1, 2008. At that time it will become part of a state-wide traveling show.

The image bridge, is from a reference photograph I took while hiking past the arch (or bridge) near the top of Bridge Mountain at Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area. Rain water is collected in pits, known as tanks, up high on the mountain. One tank resides just beside this amazing hidden bridge. Here you can see the blue sky is reflected in it. It's a difficult hike to this place, but very rewarding! Red Rock Canyon is a special place for me, as it is literally my backyard playground. I have enjoyed many adventures there with my husband. We were even married there!
