The story behind the artwork

Abstracted study of a detail of a Giant Clam. As a diver I've hovered over the gaping mouth of a giant clam many times. It has always fascinated me to watch it open and close, sometimes gently, and sometimes when startled, with a sudden jolt. You really get a sense of the potential energy of this creature.
