The story behind the artwork

This bright crimson painting entitled 'ribbon" has a botanical quality. It is in fact inspired by the egg ribbons of nudibranchs. These colorful sea slugs create spiral formations as they lay their fertilized eggs. They leave their beautiful clutch of offspring secured to a piece of lava rock, coral, or sometimes even along the back of an unsuspecting creature!
