The story behind the artwork

Inspired by a wild boar hunt I experienced in Fiji, tusks explores the sensation of being a predator tracking her prey. The hunt was empowering, and tapped into primal feelings I had never sensed before. Exploring the jungle with my fearless hunter guide and his two dogs was an unforgettable adventure. A boar can furiously pierce and slice the flesh of his adversary with intimidating tusks when threatened. Often, the hunting dogs are the first to receive the boar’s wrath in a pig hunt. The scene can quickly change from a quiet stalk or ambush to a sudden eruption of violence and screams as the hunter and the hunted engage in a fight to the death.

My interpretive painting expresses raw beauty in a fit of violence. There is the feeling of conflict expressed like that of two wrestlers trying to strangle each other.
